Supervisors
Okay Creation of New Fuel Bid Procedure
Posted 26 June 2008
Members of the Allamakee County Board of Supervisors Monday, June 23,
heard a recommendation from County Engineer Brian Ridenour to adopt a
new bidding process for county fuel bids.
Ridenour was on the agenda to present bids for fuel to the board, but
recommended that the Board reject all of the bids received and extend
the county's contract with Sweeney Oil for two months.
Ridenour said that several contractors had expressed concerns to him
regarding the form of the bids requested, and Ridenour agreed that a
new bidding method, utilizing a statewide average fuel price, should be
considered.
Members of the Board of Supervisors agreed to extend the contract with
Sweeney Oil so that Ridenour can develop a new bidding method and to
obtain bids under that new system.
Ridenour also reported that flood waters have receded enough to assess
the work that needs to be done on the Iverson and Morgan bridges. He
said that he has completed the plans and specifications for the two
projects and will present the Board with the bids on the projects at
today's meeting, Thursday, June 26.
In other business, the board considered a proposal to rent 17.2 acres
at the County Farm that adjoin a lot previously rented to Brian Stortz
for pasture. Members agreed to add the additional acres to the rental
agreement with Stortz for an additional $1,380.
