Church
Observing Its 150th Year Slated to Close
Posted 28 June 2008
St. Bridget's Catholic Church in Bluffton will hold a 150th Anniversary
Celebration today, Saturday, June 28, with several events planned.
A bagpiper will perform at 3:15 p.m. this afternoon, Saturday. A
special Mass will be held at 4 p.m., a community potluck supper will
begin at 5 p.m., the Ceolas Irish Music Ensemble will play at 5:30
p.m., the Maolisa Irish Dancers will dance at 6:30 p.m. and a dance
featuring the Country Cousins will begin at 8 p.m. this evening.
Other features will include kids games, a raffle, food and beverages.
The public is invited to bring a covered dish to share.
The celebration will be a little bittersweet as the parish learned in
April that its priest is being reassigned within the archdiocese and
will not be replaced at St. Bridget's, meaning the church will close.
